Custom 3D Printed Parts, Prototypes, and Small Products

Need a custom part, prototype, replacement piece, bracket, adapter, or finished product? I can help take your idea from concept to finished item with design, 3D modeling, FDM printing, testing, assembly, and finishing.

This service is ideal for small custom parts, functional prototypes, replacement components, hobby parts, electronics accessories, brackets, clips, adapters, enclosures, and other practical items that need to be designed, printed, and refined for real-world use.

What I Offer

I provide an end-to-end custom 3D printing workflow, including:

  • Concept review and design planning

  • Measurement and fitment research

  • 3D modeling / CAD design

  • Prototype printing

  • Fit and function testing

  • Design revisions

  • Final FDM print

  • Assembly, inserts, fasteners, or finishing when needed

Instead of just printing a file, I help solve the problem from idea to finished part.

Common Projects

Typical projects include:

  • Replacement parts

  • Mounting brackets

  • Clips, adapters, and spacers

  • Small enclosures and housings

  • Tooling, jigs, and fixtures

  • Knobs, grips, and handles

  • Functional prototypes

  • Small mechanisms or multi-part assemblies

  • Custom accessories for electronics, tools, hobbies, or household use

Materials Available

Depending on the project, I can print with materials such as:

  • PLA

  • PETG

  • ABS

  • TPU

  • Engineering-grade filaments when appropriate

Material selection depends on how the part will be used, including strength, flexibility, heat resistance, chemical exposure, durability, appearance, and cost.

Design and Print Quality

Each part is designed with practical use in mind. Print settings such as layer height, wall thickness, infill, print orientation, temperature, and strength direction are selected based on the part’s purpose.

When needed, I can also include finishing or assembly steps such as sanding, priming, bonding, heat-set inserts, press-fit features, snap-fit joints, fasteners, or multi-part assembly.

Pricing

A $100 deposit is required to begin custom work.

The deposit includes up to 5 hours of labor, which may include design, research, measurement planning, modeling, assembly, and revision work.

Additional labor is billed at $20 per hour.

Printing time is billed at $1 per print hour.

Material cost is billed separately based on the amount and type of filament used.

Shipping is not included.

Example Project

A custom CPAP bracket required measuring, design, prototype printing, revisions, and final fitting.

Example breakdown:

  • Labor: 6 hours × $20/hr = $120

  • Print time: 5 hours × $1/hr = $5

  • Material: $5

Total: $130 plus shipping

This included 3 design iterations to get the part fitting and functioning correctly.

File Rights and Design Ownership

The standard project price includes the completed physical product.

Digital design files are not automatically included unless purchased separately.

Printable File Rights

Printable STL/3MF files are available for 2× the CAD/design labor cost.

This allows you to print additional copies for your own use or have the part printed elsewhere.

With this option, I retain the right to reuse, remix, modify, improve, or adapt the design for future projects.

Example:

  • CAD/design labor: 5 hours × $20/hr = $100

  • Printable file rights: 2× design labor = $200

Exclusive Design Rights

Exclusive rights are available for 3× the CAD/design labor cost.

With this option, you receive exclusive rights to the created design files, and I give up the right to reuse, remix, resell, or adapt that specific file/design for other customers.

Example:

  • CAD/design labor: 5 hours × $20/hr = $100

  • Exclusive design rights: 3× design labor = $300

Commercial, resale, or manufacturing use should be discussed before the project begins so the correct rights package can be quoted.

How to Start

Send a description of what you need, including the part’s purpose, rough dimensions, material preference, photos or sketches if available, and any special requirements such as strength, flexibility, heat resistance, finish, or assembly.

I’ll review the request and provide a quote, timeline, and next steps.
